Would you put up with ads on your mobile phone in order to talk for free? This is the question that startup Xero Mobile answered with a resounding yes during its formation.
The rest of the world is not so sure. The prospect of mobile phone spam, and possibly mobile spyware has many of us wary. The success of Tivo which eliminates commercials from television should have been a lesson........
Xero Mobile, controversial from its inception, just sold all assets to newly formed Advanced Mobile Communications for an undisclosed amount.
This is in the wake of an SEC investigation of Xero due to its dubious ties to now defunct mobile content company Gizmondo. Xero was founded by ex - Gizmondo execs who made a large amount of capital mysteriously disappear.
Advanced Mobile Communications is evidentally so new that no web site for it exists.
Hmmmm....could this be a restructuring to take off the heat from the SEC?
Xero went public through a reverse merger - and is now trading on the OTC exchange for 50 some odd cents.
Xero may have been an appropriate name.
