Upon the demise of my great former carrier, Ampd Mobile, I was forced to choose another phone and another carrier. After much deliberation, I decided to pick up an ultra light Motorola Q and join those addicted to email on their phones.
As a high tech sales manager, I have found the convenience of receiving emails - and sending them - a wonderful change that has helped me to stay on top of my cutting edge deals. Some of the features I most like about this phone are:
It is SO much slimmer and lighter than the "Crackberries"; Motorola claims it is the slimmest smart phone in the industry at 11.5 mm
The screen is easy to see and use, and the backlighting actually allows you to work in dimly lit spots (like an airplane, before they make you shut your phone off).
The keyboard is easy to use too. I must admit, I am of the older generation and had never text'd anyone before. Now, I am able to do it like a pro (well, not quite, but I am getting there).
I also have reminders of my daily calendar thanks to Outlook integration, and can even open attachments and view them while on the go.
What I don't like is the dearth of ringtones available. I have downloaded standard ringtones, but I get an error message saying they won't work on my phone. When I go to the Sprint store to try to buy a new one, they want to sell me a whole package of them for $19.99. Geez folks, I only want to buy one!
And every now and then, my phone goes into a latchup mode where it has to be rebooted. Good old Windows, it even happens on phones.
But given the added productivity I have gained from this phone WITHOUT categorizing myself as yet another Crackberry addict, I must say that its purchase was a net positive.
